IRAS
UI/UX
IRAS engaged Voilaah to help redesign and modernise their public-facing portal with a focus on accessibility, usability, and trust. The goal was to elevate how taxpayers interact with key tax content, forms, and updates — ensuring clarity across life events, business milestones, and changing tax obligations. Delivered through an iterative, user-centred process, the project enhances how citizens understand and navigate Singapore’s tax ecosystem.
The portal serves a broad and diverse population — from students and retirees to SMEs and corporations. Our work began with stakeholder workshops and behavioural journey mapping to understand pain points across different tax scenarios. From there, we shaped interface flows that simplify content access while guiding users through complex regulatory information with confidence.
We restructured the site’s architecture and content hierarchy to support task-based navigation. Contextual cues, progressive disclosure, and micro-interactions make it easier for users to find forms, estimate payments, or explore eligibility. With strong emphasis on readability and mobile-first layouts, the experience now serves users whether they're filing on a desktop, checking deadlines on mobile, or accessing content in plain English.
A robust design system was built to support the rollout of content across multiple departments while maintaining brand and accessibility standards. The interface balances the clarity expected from public service with the flexibility needed by internal teams to evolve and maintain content structures over time.
The new portal goes beyond UI polish — it supports trust, compliance, and citizen empowerment. By translating complex policy into clear design, the project strengthens IRAS’ role as a user-first public agency and helps taxpayers complete key tasks with greater ease and confidence.A robust design system was built to support the rollout of content across multiple departments while maintaining brand and accessibility standards.
